Hey gAangsters

For those of you who are attending NYCC this April, I have a few details to share regarding the awesome Nickelodeon Magazine panel happening Friday the 18th.
Here is the description of the panel that had been previously posted by the NYCC website:
Friday, 6:00 PM:"Nick Magazine Presents Avatar Comics Nickelodeon Magazine gives a behind-the-scenes look at comics produced for Avatar: The Last Airbender and spotlight all the creativity surrounding the fandom for the popular show. There will lots of audience participation, trivia-bending, and prizes for the best cosplayers! Featuring: Johane Matte aka Rufftoon (storyboard artist), Dave Roman (comics editor), Alison Wilgus (comics writer) and Amy Kim Ganter (comics artist)."A few changes have been made to the festivities listed above. A talent competition and a haiku slam are currently being organized for more exciting audience participation. The talent competition will be held during the panel, but the haiku slam and cosplay photoshoot/meet-up will happen after the panel in a public area inside the convention center around 7:05pm. More details about the location of the cosplay photoshoot and the haiku slam to be announced soon.
The talent contest is for those brave Avatar fans who have mad Avatar related skills, and are willing to share them. Do you do impressions of the characters? Have you written a song with an Avatar theme, or choreographed an Avatar dance routine? If you are interested in competing, you will need to contact Dave Roman

.Time will be limited, so make sure to let the crew know if you are interested!
Inspired by the Tale of Sokka, the Haiku Slam will give participants a chance to bend those writing skills, and craft original Avatar inspired Haiku. Drop me a note if you are interested in participating, or if you have any questions. Please note me with the subject, "Haiku". This will help me keep track of interested participants, and questions

The cosplay photo shoot will happen directly after the panel, and in the same area as the Haiku Slam. Nickelodeon Magazine will be there, taking photos and video taping fans as they show off their cosplay handy work. The footage will be used for a video, and will appear on Nickmag.com. I hope to see an abundance of cosplaying fans, and Haiku enthusiasts!
For those of you who are not familiar with what a Haiku is, let me give you a brief description. Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry. Traditionally, it often involves nature. or simple and natural things around us, or in the universe. Haiku is written in a pattern. The pattern for the Haiku Slam will be the pattern that most people are familiar with.
The 3 line pattern, with a set number of syllables for each line.
1st line : 5 syllables
2nd line: 7 syllables
3rd line : 5 syllablles
This contest should be a lot of fun, especially for you writers out there!
And after all of that, can you believe there will be even MORE Avatar the following day!? Check it:
Saturday, 3:00 PM: "Into the Inferno: Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender Finale - Get an insider's look at the explosive 2-hour movie event as the adventures of Aang, the last Airbender culminate in a head to head battle with the Fire Lord Ozai. The panel will be packed with exclusive sneak peeks of upcoming episodes, production art, the official trailer for the highly anticipated finale and a Q&A with special guests, show creators Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino. Moderated by Megan Casey, Executive in Charge for Nickelodeon." With everything that is going on for the Avatar fan community, this convention should satisfy some of our Avatar cravings! Looks like I need to put down my harmonica, and stop singing the Avatar Blues eh?

Please hit Dave Romans Deviant Art Journal for more information!

Also, while I have your attention, check out Bryan Konieztko's latest remix. If you like it, vote for it

As for Nick Mag being there, at this time, I don't think they will..but I could be wrong.
